just like that…

This summer has undoubtedly been one of the busiest on record for us. Once our winter from hell finally ended in April and the giant (up to 15 ft high) snow piles in our yard finally melted after Memorial Day, we finally hit regular summer temps in June and by July it seemed like half the state was on fire. Despite all of this, and being extremely busy at my 8-5 job, we managed to get several long neglected house projects done. Oh, yeah, and I decided to train for not one, but two marathons. All of these commitments meant that I really didn’t have time to dye yarn and expand my online presence like I wanted to. So, thanks for being patient with me.

Despite our nearly 24 hours of daylight, summers here are extremely short. One big summer project that got back burnered was my dye garden. I have tons of ideas on what I want to grow so I can spend the long winter ahead planning that out.

So of course, just like that, summer is over and fall has nearly put itself to bed, and we are working like crazy to finish the last few outside projects before the snow and subzero temperatures set in. This fall was incredible for foliage. We only get about two weeks in September when the trees are in full color. This year they were so bright with yellow and orange/red leaves we couldn’t stop looking up!

I managed to finish the Equinox marathon for the third time. No land speed records were set there but I was glad to be able to go the distance. Now my husband and I are off on a little adventure to the UK. I get to test my endurance again by doing a second marathon in just over a month. The Dramathon promises to be a fun event centered near the River Spey and the Glenfiddich and other distilleries. Should be a fun time.

Once we return home, our next big project is deep cleaning our garage, repainting the walls and hopefully applying that spiffy garage floor paint with color flecks in it. I am lookin forward to setting up a real dye studio and moving all my supplies and equipment out of the kitchen! Another big task looming on the horizon is migrating my online business entirely to this platform. I will keep you all posted and promise to start sending email notices out with shop updates.

Until then, this tired person has a ton to do ahead of our trip. Happy crafting! #sweaterweather #falljunkie
